It's really difficult to talk about God and religion. Although I am a writer, even the toughest topics get me tongue tied. I am not the 'best' Christian, and I feel like I fail at witnessing more often than not. I get tongue tied, and I get afraid of the tough questions.
So, let me just say this:
I love God. I truly do. I don't know much other than that. I don't go to church like I should, and I do have my doubts. I have gone back and forth through-out my years. From growing up going to church with my apostolic Pentecostal grandmother, and watching my parents not go to church. I used to sit in my room and cry and cry about how afraid I was, because according to what was preached, my parents would not be going to heaven.
As I got older, I stopped going to church more and more. I almost stopped believing. Quite frankly, I don't like religion. In my opinion, religion doesn't make sense. God gave us all free will. Every religion claims that their way is the only way. That through that one religion you can be saved. They all think they are right. So, how do you know which one is right?
I decided that all I need to do is have a healthy relationship with God. I read my bible, I pray and I do my best to treat people right. I'm not in church when I should be. I don't read my bible as much as I should. I am not a perfect Christian. I may not even be a good Christian. That's between me and God. What's important to me, is that I love Him with all my heart.
I believe that people should be able to do whatever they want, as long as it does not harm others. I won't say that I'm not going to ask you to believe, because I want to do everything in my power to make sure that everyone else knows just how amazing God is.
It truly hurts my heart when I see that people don't believe. I think that everyone has a relationship with God, because He loves all of his children. Some relationships just need more work than others. That is between you and God.
Sometimes prayers aren't answered. Sometimes God is silent. Sometimes that is your answer. It's not called faith because you know all the answers. It's faith, because there are things that you don't know. There are unexplainable things.
I have seen God work. I have seen Him move in ways that can't be described in any other word than miraculous. I don't want to go through life believing that this is all there is. I am using the free will God gave me, to believe in Him.
I guess I am asking you to believe. Because it's so amazing. I feel better knowing that God is on my side. He gives me strength, and helps me when no one else can. He has worked true miracles in my life, and I know I wouldn't be here today without Him.
Maybe religion isn't for you. Maybe you've had a bad time, and maybe you're just mad. Please don't let the unanswered prayers distract you from the amazing blessings He has in store for you. He wants us to succeed. You have to meet Him halfway, though.
I can only pray that you give God another chance, because He has given you so many. You can believe in love, and feel the wind. Why is it that, "Seeing is believing," when it comes to God?
Furthermore, if you just look a little harder, you'll see more than you thought you might.
