My Dear Pets,

Oh, where do I begin? You guys are the best thing that's ever happened to me. We've had some really good times together, some wonderful laughs and snuggles, and many other touching memories that I'll cherish forever.

I know you've been wondering where I've been. I'm sorry I left you—it had been coming for a long time. I've dreaded the day I had to tell you this. I really didn't want to go off to college, I promise. If I had it my way, I would have stayed home with you forever. I know it hurts now and it's hard to understand why I left, but I promise I'll come back for you. I hope you can forgive me.

I miss you more than you know—you were definitely the hardest goodbye. I remember all of the fun times we shared—I look at pictures of us every day. I can't wait to make more memories with you once school gets out. Don't forget about me while I'm away, and I promise I'll never forget about you. I love you so much.

I miss cuddling you. I miss the way you would run up to me when I got home from school each day, as if you hadn't seen me in months. I miss the way you could brighten up even the worst of my moods. I miss the funny things you do. I miss your unconditional love.

I want you to know that I'll always have a special place in my heart for you.

I know this long-distance relationship is hard on you. It's hard on me too, believe me. But I know that the next time we see each other, it will all be worth it. I hate that it has to be this way, but I know that it's what's best for both of us at this point in our lives.

I want you to know that it's nothing you did wrong. I had to go away regardless. There was nothing you could have done—you were the most perfect pets I could've asked for. Please don't blame yourselves. Out of all of the pets in the world, you are the sweetest, cutest, and snuggliest. I wouldn't trade you for the world.

Thank you for allowing me to be your owner. I know right now you feel betrayed, but I promise I'll make it all up to you when I come home.

I know it's cliche, but I hope that things between us can be the same when I come back. I hope that we can put the past aside and continue like normal. If not, I understand. I can't say I'll agree or be okay with it at first, but I will respect your decision. Thank you again for all the happiness you have brought to me. I will always love you.
