In my 18 years here on this Earth, I have been through a lot. I have been through a nasty divorce with my parents and have gone through heartbreak myself. I was certain I was never going to find the one...
Until four months ago. Four months ago I was unsure of the person I was becoming. When I looked in the mirror I questioned who this person was that I was looking at. My freshmen year of college took over completely. My focus wasn't on my grades, but more on being liked by everyone. This lead to me partying WAY TOO MUCH.
A young man by the name of Connor was my saving grace. I have never met such a caring, selfless, and understanding person in my life. He saved me. He brought me into his life so effortlessly; introducing me to his friends and taking me to church every Sunday. Being back at church was quite scary. I had sinned so much and felt uncomfortable just walking through the door. Luckily, God forgives ALL sins.
With the passing weeks, I was able to find myself and slowly begin to see my purpose in life. I want to give back to the people around me. Thank God I was able to find a man that has the same purpose in life and this very moment he is making me so proud changing the lives of hundreds of kids through a camp known as "Kids Camp."
Do not go searching for love. When you are searching for love you will find it in all the WRONG places. The time will come and you will feel it deep in your heart when the right person comes along. I can promise you it is well worth the wait.
I will take any opportunity I get to put my amazing boyfriend of mine high on the pedal stool. I could honestly brag about him all day long. He's taught me some things in life that I hope everyone is able to see.
Here are my 10 ways you know you've found the right one:
- They accept your past. Dealing with someone with
a past is never easy. Everyone is going to come with baggage but in order to make a relationship work you MUST accept the mistakes and move forward. A relationship cannot bloom without acceptance. - They laugh at your jokes (even when they're not funny). It is always a good feeling to make someone laugh. Laughter is vital to a relationship!
- They never leave your mind. No matter what's at
task , the person is always in the back of your mind. They are the first person you think about when you wake up and the last person you think about when you go to sleep at night. - You overlook the imperfections. When you fall in love with someone everything about them becomes beautiful. You begin to see the beauty in their faults and everything about them is unique, rather than an imperfection.
- They make you a better person. If they aren't pushing you to be the best version of yourself then they aren't the one and vice versa.
- You make sacrifices for each other. You say no to a party. You wake up at 6 a.m. to surprise them with breakfast. The little acts of selflessness can go a long way and will definitely reflect on the relationship.
- They feel like home. There is nothing more comforting than being in the arms of your significant other. If you don't miss them the moment they walk out the door, then they are not the one for you.
- They are your absolute best friend. You can go to them for anything and everything. When you need advice they are the person you go to. They know all of your secrets. They've seen you smile. They've seen you cry. And they've seen you be a complete mad man. That's what best friends are for right?
- Their family is your family. You don't create a relationship with one person, but with their entire family.
- You see a future and you know you're not wasting your time with this person.
