“He’s more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.”
That’s from Emily Bronte’s book, "Wuthering Heights"
After reading that you should have some sort of idea of what love is. But, if you still don’t, I’ll help you. Love is being in a crowded room and only being able to see one person. Love is giving your all to someone and trusting that they don’t break your heart. Love is finding that person that can be your best friend, but also your lover. That’s what I call love.
If you look in the dictionary, you might come across a definition very similar to this one: “A feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection for someone.” Although that is very true, there is such a deeper meaning than just that. Love is sticking by someone’s side no matter what. It is staying in on Sundays cuddled up next to the one person who you wouldn’t mind spending the rest of your life with. It’s those quiet walks you take by yourself, listening to your favorite music. Love is hidden in small messages, such as, “Be safe,” or “Let me know you made it there alright.” It’s not always the words, “I love you.” It’s someone telling you to be careful because they care about you and don’t ever want to lose you. Love is everywhere and it’s in everything. No matter where you go, love is there — somewhere.

That’s not all love is though. It’s also dancing in your room to your favorite music. It’s sitting in a deer stand at four in the morning with your dad waiting to shoot a bigger buck than you did last year. It’s spending Friday nights with your friends, having a good time. Love is whatever brings you happiness. It could be sitting on your front porch swing, sipping your morning tea.
Someone is in love no matter where you go, maybe it’s you. It could be me, or the five-year-old little girl down the road. It’s always there, somewhere. One of the greatest things about love is that there are no limitations. There is no race or gender. Love is love.
Sometimes love is even painful. It’s not always on purpose though. Sometimes people forget why they loved someone in the first place, so they stop loving that person. They forget about all of the wonderful reasons they fell in love with that person. So, they stop caring. They don’t really mean for it to happen, but sadly sometimes it does.
Love is such an amazing thing. Everyone should be able to experience it. Luckily I’m blessed to be able to say I know what love is and I’m surrounded by it. It’s such an incredible thing, and if you are able to experience it, you’re one of the lucky ones.
Also, a huge thank you to Cortne Fletcher, Amanda Rhodes, Kyrie Dial and Zach Stokes for letting me use their pictures in my article.
