Love Is Always A Choice

Everyday you make the decision to love somebody

Love Is Always A Choice
K. Caskey

Every single day, we must make choices. We have to choose which outfit to wear, which route to take to work, or which restaurant to eat at for supper. We must also choose how we treat the people around us. It doesn't matter if our days are good or bad, we always have a choice in the way we act towards someone. The same goes for loving somebody. We can either choose to walk away, or love somebody no matter what.

The reason relationships in our generation don't work out, is because people give up when things go wrong. This can be the case for either a partner relationship, family relationship, and even a friend relationship.

To my parents and sister, thank you for choosing to love me since the day I was born. I know it's a parent's job to love their kids, but day in and day out, you have always chose to show me love. You have always supported me and the choices I've made. There's been times you have let me fall, so I could stand back up. To me, that's some of the best love there is. Through it all, you have chosen to love me for who I am. There were days you showed me love was sometimes all you needed.

To my boyfriend, thank you for choosing to love me when I couldn't love myself. You always have loved me for every mistake I've made, and for all the times I've tested you. I have tested your patience, your understanding, and even your love. However, through it all you have always chose to love me for me. You chose to love me somedays without me giving anything in return. You have helped me see love like I never have before.

To my friends, thank you for accepting me right away. You chose to love me from the very beginning without any judgement. That's why we have such good relationships. Y'all have always shown me love through your care and actions, and have chosen to love me when I've had a bad college day. (Let's be honest we all have those days).

I'll be the first to admit that when we get wronged or hurt by someone, it's not easy to love somebody for it. That's why day in and day out, we have to choose to love people. I mean, if these people would have chosen not to, I would have lost some great people. That's why everyday, I continue to choose to love those in my life. However it is also important to choose to love everyone you come into contact with, everyday. It can make the biggest difference. It has the potential to change the world. I mean those choosing to love me and me choosing to love them has changed my life.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
