Growing up, I lived in the Northeast and so, whenever I met someone that was from Florida the first thing I would innocently ask them was if they go to Disney all the time and how far away from Disney they live. Much to my young dismay, most of the kids said they did not live near Orlando at all and that they only went once a year or so.
Now that I live in Miami, I too only get to visit Disney- truly the most Magical Place on Earth, about once a year. But the rest of the year is spent harassing my family and friends to go with me whenever we get a break from school or work. The thing abut Disney is that it never gets old. It is a timeless place, that comes alive daily, and let me tell you how.
Rides
Magic Kingdom is one of the few places I have ever been to that has the ability to appeal to everyone. Whether you like action, princes and princesses, cartoons, or pirates, you ca find joy in one of the six main lands that surround Cinderella’s Castle. There is Adventureland, Frontierland, Liberty Square, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland and Main Street. There are thrilling ride like Splash Mountain and Space Mountain, scary rides like the Haunted House, adorable rides that make you find your inner child like the Teapots or the Small World. There are shows where you can relax, meet the characters, like Donald Duck, the princesses, or the Presidents!
Food
Even though the food here is a bit overpriced, it is all so Disney themed and festive. From ice cream bars in Mickey’s shape to the popcorn and the giant lollipops in the Candy Store, every where you look there is decadence and deliciousness abounding. Magic Kingdom also has some fancy restaurants with food as divine as the decor. There is Casey’s Corner for hotdogs and burgers in an old fashioned parlor, the Main Street Bakery with the best chocolate croissants, cakes, cookies and coffee, that you have ever had, the Crystal Palace with a buffet breakfast and the Winnie the Pooh characters, to name a few of my favorites.
Lights
Disney’s Magic Kingdom castle is covered in over 200,00 lights to make the massive structure come to life, bringing cheer to all that are near. If that is not enough, Christmas at Magic Kingdom is a heaven of its own. With a 30,000 pound, 65 foot tree, one 40 foot star, 5500 twinkling lights, 430 feet of garland, 325 ornaments, 275 feet of strung popcorn, 400 flickering candles, 135 candy canes, and 100 gingerbread cookies the Magic Kingdom Tree Spectacular is born. Each year on Christmas Day , the parade is filmed on Main Street, with a regular admission ticket, anyone can attend the taping and perhaps even appear on live television. Each year the shows are a perfect mix of kept tradition and unique detail changes that keep the Christmas shows exciting and wonderful no matter how many times you have seen it.
Making memories
Whether you go to Disney for the first time of for the twentieth time, it is bound to make a lasting print on both your mind and you heart. Everyone in Magic Kingdom exudes happiness, amusement, and excitement as they venture through the Happiest Place on Earth. You can go with your family, experience all the rides together, and make a family caricature that will last forever, eat dinner, and take pictures with the characters. Or you can go with your friends, order matching t-shirts, make an experience out of it, get matching friendship bracelets, spend hours taking the perfect selfie, and meeting all of the Princesses in Fantasyland. Disney is also famous for appealing to couples, and has been the scene for many marriage proposals- magic must be in the air.
