Why I Love My College Best Friend

I met my college best friend over the summer. We were both here for summer classes, and neither of us knew what we were doing. We struggled together through the summer, and got to know each other pretty fast. As the weeks went by I knew that she was the best friend I had always wanted. In high school, girls were fake and cruel. Now, I have the bestest friend I could ever imagine and I am so glad about it. Here are some reasons why I love my college best friend:

1. She will eat anything at any time with me.

Some nights, I want coffee and burritos and she goes right along with me.

2. She supports me.

Over the summer I was failing one of my classes, and she pushed me through. At the start of fall, I changed my major and she supported me through my decision.

3. She gets the same drink as me at Starbucks.

I know this one is weird, but I have never met another soul that gets my drink. The very first time we went to Starbucks together, we both got our drink. From that point, we started to drink A LOT more coffee.

4. She gets along with my boyfriend.

I have had a couple friends that get along with my boyfriend, but not like her. She jokes with him and lets me vent about him.

5. She is selfless.

Whenever any person in the world needs something, she is there for them. She puts her own issues behind her to help others. I have never met somebody so caring and loving as her.

6. She knows me so well.

She knows exactly when I am in a bad mood and when I am upset. She also knows how to cheer me up whenever I am down.

7. Singing.

We sing so loud together and I love it so much. We can be going down the highway and if the right song comes on, we are singing at the top of our lungs.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
