If You Love Christmas… Here’s Your Quintessential Playlist

The perfect recipe for Christmas music.

Alright, Christmas is by far my favorite holiday for so many reasons. Being with family, finding gems of presents for your loved ones, eating as many cookies as humanly possible, the wonderful lights strung upon trees, watching Elf...I could actually go on for hours. However, if you love Christmas too than you (obviously) need the perfect playlist. I made this playlist last year and just kept adding on with every album or song I heard. Classics such as Frank Sinatra, Michael Buble, and Mariah Carey, meet contemporaries like Justin Bieber, Kelly Clarkson, Jordan Smith, Pentatonix and Leslie Odom Jr. Here are a few of my favorites from my playlist, CHRISTMAS 🎄🎁:

(Ranked from festive to super festive)

1. Coldest Winter- Pentatonix

For those of you who maybe like the “dark side” of Christmas, this is your cup of tea (it’s not your typical festive song). It’s a beautiful mixture of the a-cappella band’s voices and something like you’ve never heard before.

2. White Christmas- Frank Sinatra

The classic, smooth sound of Sinatra’s voice singing Christmas songs (what could be better??) takes you back to Miracle on 34th Street or Annie and is a definite must-have. It makes you feel like decorating the Christmas tree while listening to this record on vinyl (or Spotify will do).

3. Merry Christmas Darling- Leslie Odom Jr.

If you’re a Hamilton fan, you know exactly who this buttery voice belongs to. If you don’t, we’re no longer friends. Just kidding- but seriously this is an original song by Odom Jr. and it’s sweet and romantic, perfect for a date night during the holiday season.

4. Home This Christmas (feat. The Band Perry)- Justin Bieber

Also romantic, the Biebs came out with this song off his album Under the Mistletoe with The Band Perry in 2011, and it is the definition of looking out the window as it snows and imagining you’re in a holiday music video.

5. That’s Christmas to Me- Pentatonix

If you haven’t noticed, Pentatonix has been on almost every holiday performance opportunity this year with their third hit Christmas album, A Pentatonix Christmas. It’s because of their unique acapella approach, making each song sound different than all other department-store seasonal songs typically heard.

6. Wrapped in Red- Kelly Clarkson

The cozy song name is conveniently the name of her album as well. This song is motivating to get in the Christmas spirit, take chances and belt out the words

7. Mis Deseos/Feliz Navidad & Cold December Night- Michael Buble & Thalia

Michael Buble, the modern day Sinatra, has a dreamy album worthy of listening to sitting around the fire with your family on Christmas Eve: definitely a must-have on your ideal playlist.

8. Grown-Up Christmas List- Jordan Smith

Okay, this one's a little different and when you first listen to it the word “festive” may not come to mind but it’s actually the greatest representation of 2016 because of all the brokenness that has happened this year. Seriously, give it a listen.

9. Santa Claus Is Coming to Town- Justin Bieber & Pentatonix

Unfortunately, this song is not a duo, but I just couldn’t decide between the two because the songs are both so incredibly fun to listen to and will get you more into the Christmas spirit.

10. All I Want For Christmas Is You (SuperFestive!)- Justin Bieber & Mariah Carey

This is literally the most Super Festive song on this playlist, I could dance around to this song in my room year round. The combination of the artist is both exciting and holiday party worthy. If you don’t listen to this song over the season your Christmas will not be complete.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
