There’s no better than feeling than being in a crowd, surrounded by people who love the same thing you do. You may all be from different backgrounds, stories, experiences but all that matters for these next 90 or so minutes is your love for the music. The bands who are performing are the reason you have a connection to this music.
The anticipation before the concert. You bought these tickets months in advance, probably the second the band announced the tour. There’s definitely a countdown on your phone, counting down the days, minutes, and even the seconds until you’re at the concert.
Waiting in line for the doors to open. Again, more anticipation and more hype. I think this is one of my favorite moments besides the actual band coming onstage. You’re in line for numerous hours on end, potentially making friends with people near you. Everyone is smiling, even waiting in the cold or heat. I remember waiting before an Of Mice & Men concert a few years back, everyone was cold but we were too excited to really care about that.
Everyone is there for the same reason. They want to enjoy this band or bands, not matter what. It’s music. Everyone is alive and pumped and you can just feel the energy across the room. You make friends instantly, even if it’s just those 90 minutes. One of my absolute best friends, I actually met at a concert and we’re nearly inseparable. That’s just the start of the magic that concerts bring.
You’re just there to enjoy your favorite songs live. Nothing better than hearing songs you’ve cried to, belted out alone in your room, and sang along with your friends. These are songs that you have spent so much time listening to and creating memories with. Now they’re being performed for you. Every single second is memorable. Everyone is dancing, smiling, and maybe even getting trampled by the pit. But it’s all worth it, there’s not a single moment I regret when I’m at a concert.
The worst part of a concert: post-concert depression. This is a real thing and it’s awful. The pain from the pit is less painful. You’re not going to get that hour and half back no matter how hard you try. The memories are there; the feelings are there but you’re no longer at the show surrounded by amazing people and the music. But you definitely played every single song by the band on the car ride home, trying to relive every second that just happened. I love going to concerts, it brings out the best in me and I’m definitely counting down the days until the next one!
