If you're from Louisiana, you may understand why this article is so necessary. I've learned more and more from my time here at LSU that boys from other states just don't really understand Louisiana girls; how we act, what we say, how we dress, talk, etc.
So I'm here to explain to you the five ways you can win that Louisiana girl's heart, and they're all pretty simple.
1. Don't assume she doesn't know anything about your interests
One of the worst things you can do is assume that we know nothing about hunting or football. Sure, there are the girls who don't know jack squat about what you're talking about, but they're pretty rare. Most Louisiana girls can talk LSU football & duck hunting season with the best of the boys, so give us a chance.
2. Don't assume we eat salad
Stop taking us to restaurants and suggesting the lightest thing you see on the menu. When I go out to eat, I want a steak, mash potatoes, bread and a big glass of sweet tea. Salad? Psh, date a yankee if you want that in a girl.
3. Don't judge us based on our families
If you've caught on to anything on television, it's that Louisiana families are a rare breed, but don't assume that I'm just like my momma and daddy. I may have a few of their traits, but some of us do have a desire to break away from the family mold.
4. Don't categorize us based on our sorority
Not everyone that's in a certain sorority acts just like the other one. Though a lot of us share the same values and morals and that's why we chose our sisterhood in the first place, many of us are incredibly different. My best friend and I are in the same sorority, but we're complete opposites. It happens.
5. Don't try to talk us out of loving Louisiana
There's something about Louisiana that gets in your soul. I don't know if its the gumbo, or Voodoo fest, or Mardi Gras, or football season, but there's something about this state that captures your heart. And if you were born and raised here, it's hard to think about living anywhere else. Don't try to convince us that your state is better and that there's more to life. We know there is, we just love our life here.
