10 Ways Lorelei Gilmore Perfectly Described Your Life As A Coffee Addict

I love coffee. Coffee is my thing. Coffee is what gets me out of bed in the morning and what makes me eager to go to sleep so that I can wake up and drink more coffee. It's been my steadfast companion, getting me through long days of classes, work, interviews, shopping, studying, writing or whatever else I have planned that day. It keeps me productive, energetic and able to smile at people and function as a normal human being even when I'm swimming in stress and lack of sleep. The wonderful characters of Lorelei and Rory Gilmore from "Gilmore Girls" are some of the only people who understand my love of coffee. Coffee is more than a love, it's a lifestyle.

Lorelei and Rory can help explain what it's like to go through life as a coffee addict lover.

1. Your first thought when you wake up in the morning:

Literally, my first thoughts every morning are, "Please God, help me follow you this day," and, "I need coffee right now."

2. When you try to speak in the morning but you're not actually saying words:

Someone else: "Good morning! How are you?"

You: "Manplerthoshaba."

3. When someone offers you coffee:

This is what you live for.

4. When someone says they don't like coffee:

No one in your proximity shall go through life deprived of the saving power of coffee.

5. When there's a coffee shop with an attractive barista (his name may even be Luke):

It's like killing two birds with one stone. It's hard to find something better than a guy who knows his coffee.

6. When you realize how much time you waste waiting for coffee and wish there would be a faster way of staying caffeinated:

Lorelei Gilmore, you understand the dilemma.

7. When you're trying to hide your coffee problem from someone who just doesn't understand:

It's none of your business how many cups of coffee I've had today. Thank you. Side note, do you want to go get some more coffee?

8. When you try to explain your coffee problem to said person:

You take coffee away from me, you take away my ability to perform daily tasks. Don't do that me.

9. When you meet someone new and they ask if you like coffee:

Really, that question should never even have to be asked.

10. When you're having a rough day, you know coffee will always make it better.

Did poorly on a test? Coffee will help. Lost your keys? Broke up with your boyfriend? Coffee. Ran into a wall? Coffee. Coffee is always there.

All in all, Lorelei Gilmore is the ultimate inspiration, role model and spirit animal of all coffee lovers. She encompasses what it's like to truly live life as we should: coffee in hand and ready to take on the world.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
