A Look Into American Horror Story: Freak Show

The fourth season of American Horror Story started a few weeks ago on FX and it has generated a lot of excitement, just as expected. American Horror Story: Freak Show has not disappointed. With Jessica Lange running the show (as per usual), sexually frustrated siamese twins, and a disgustingly scary clown, how could you not watch this show?

It seemed like before the first episode of the season even ended the Internet exploded with memes, gifs, and other jokes pertaining to the show. That is probably because the show's characters this season are so unique and quirky, and more disturbing than ever before.

What may come as a surprise is some of the controversy that the show has resulted in. The club Clowns of America International is mad at AHS: Freak Show because of the shows main killer Twisty the clown played by John Carroll Lynch. Clowns of America International have every right to be mad because Twisty is easily the scariest killer AHS has ever produced, but the reality is people were already afraid of clowns before the show aired. My fear of clowns began before I can even remember.

As scary as Twisty is, something that may be even creepier is the dynamic of Gloria and Dandy Mott. Finn Wittrock's representation of the spoiled man-child Dandy makes me so uncomfortable, but I can't look away. Dandy's mother Gloria, played by AHS veteran Frances Conroy, encourages her sons eeriness.

The most recent episode (Episode 3: Edward Mordrake, Part 1) was part 1 of the Halloween special. In this episode we were introduced to the supernatural for the first time this season, only widening the already expansive variety of creepy characters on the show. The importance of Edward Mordrake, the ghost of the two-faced freak, is evident when he makes his appearance at the Freakshow Halloween night.

I can't forget to mention Jessica Lange's cover of Lana Del Ray's song "Gods and Monsters," which is what summons the ghost of Edward Mordrake.

I also can't forget to mention the appearance of Emma Roberts, who is now engaged to co-star Evan Peters even after the reports that she abused him.

With all the excitement from last weeks episode, the anticipation for next week's is almost unbearable. So far, every episode has been a scary treat. What do you think is next to come?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
