For some of us, the transition to college in terms of your religion can be a hard switch. For me, I struggled in finding my identity in church once moving to Texas A&M. I have always been once that is big on religion yet I found myself struggling with letting myself explore the opportunities around me.
As people, we tend to listen to the lies that surround us and leave us so deafened that we cannot find the truth. Those are phrases like, we are worthless, or that we won’t measure up in life. In all truthfulness, these words are meaningless and irrelevant.
Once we find our identity, especially within our religion, we find how precious we are. For me, I came to the realization that I was chosen by God to live this extraordinary life. We have all been hand-picked by the Lord to live a life that is incomparable and special to you and to you only.
Growing up, my life has always been rooted in my faith, and with knowing that I am a chosen child of God, I also know that I choose to give my life to Him. Service is something that is near and dear to my heart personally and spiritually. With this life I have been given, I choose to serve Him while also serving my brothers and sisters in Christ.
Once I found my “place” to grow spiritually here at Texas A&M, I realized just how special this life is and how any self-doubts I used to have or believe, diminish in a second. I found one company called MyIntent that makes bracelets and necklaces that are stamped with your chosen word or short phrase. I recently ordered a bracelet with the word “chosen” and wear it every day as a constant reminder that I am meant for something amazing and I am chosen to live this life.
