A phenomenon in which the resting face lacks animation and appears to look bitchy at all times, thus leading people to believe a person must be upset, a snob or a bitch.
For those who need a review, RBF is a face that, when at ease, is perceived as angry, irritated or simpy expressionless. It’s the kind a person may make when thinking hard about something or perhaps when they’re not thinking at all.
But RBF is a real phenomenon, according to David B. Givens, director of the Center for Nonverbal Studies in Spokane, Washington. He calls the condition blank face and said in studies, subjects judge a neutral, expressionless face to be "unfriendly."
Anthony S. Youn, a board certified plastic surgeon in Detroit, has RBF and said it's a combination of multiple forces."Gravity combined with genetics can pull our mouths down. As we get older and our skin gets looser and it gives us a permanent frown," he said.
The world will assume that you're having a bad day. For the most part, when you have RBF you don't even realize that you look irritated or angry. In your mind you are the happiest person in the world, but to the world you look pissed off. It's really not your fault and at the end of the day it's no one's business of why your face looks mad.
Trust me I would like to look more happy, but at the end of the day I can afford the wrinkles. And it's not my fault that my face naturally looks as if I want to kill someone. I would totally love to smile all the time, and look as if the world always had a happy ending. The blank face stare, that no one would take me serious.
Now there are advantages of having RBF. First is, people are scared of you. Their perception of you is that you're better than them and not easily intimidated. Secondly, your face reads emotionless, which means you'll be great at poker. Thirdly, no one ever knows when you're happy or when you're pissed off. Fourth and final, your gazes make people question their ability and you eventually have gain the power of mind control.
With every superpower and gift there are consequences. You're not easily approached, which means it can be hard to find a boyfriend/girlfriend. People think that your life is horrible because you never smile. People are scared of you and of scared to tell you things, that could potential make you mad. People can't open up to you, because they think you're cold and don't have a heart.
Now that you are self diagnosed with RBF, so what do you do? Just live your life and don't worry about what other people think. You can't make everyone happy, and trying to change your face isn't going to make you happy. So just stick with your RBF and have a great day.
