She roams the streets of familiarity with the wind blowing across her face, enjoying the sight of people everywhere. The sun is rising and she has no sense of direction. She steps inside the train where she will go on a long fulfilled journey to nowhere. She sings as she looks out the window, anticipating the end of the unfamiliar road.

As the train comes to a halt, she is filled with intense feelings of anxiousness, contentment, and fear. She seldom knows the feeling of happiness and has come to know it in a more profound way. As she paces down the streets of the unknown, she sees many people. Different people with different skin tones, ethnicities, opinions, ideas, and appearance.

Diversity is what she has sought throughout her life experiences and she finally get to witness it in an unfamiliar place, alone. She roams to see what she could find, for someone to talk to and places to see. There is limitless adventures ahead of her.

In one place she finds a Buddhist temple full of people bowing with incense. They bow to themselves. In another place, she finds a Catholic Church. As she walks inside, people are singing hymns to Jesus. It’s an immense place with over one hundred people. She is overwhelmed. She walks a few blocks down.

She finds a cathedral. Its beauty exemplifies that of a ballroom. The only difference is that one is a sanctuary of peace and rest. She makes way to a different street, with many lights from neon signs to Chinese paper lanterns to front porch lights of cute little shops everywhere. As she walks down the paved road, she is greeted with smells of Mexico, Europe, China, and everything.

With so many choices to choose from, she goes for an affogato and a scallion pancake. She falls in love with the scenery and all the people around her.

She walks into a nearby mall where she finds a beautiful dress shop filled with different types of dresses in different types of styles and colors. She tries on a beautiful green-laced sari with white lace flower details embedded on it. She makes way for the door and she is greeted with people from different races and ethnicities.

She runs in search for a tower that reaches the stars. As she makes way for the biggest tower, it starts to rain as she reaches the top. She is mesmerized by the view. An indescribable feeling. As it rains, the cool breeze in her skin, and the foggy sky lit up with stars and the city lights.

She is in awe. There’s no other feeling like this. The breeze gives her goosebumps and she welcomes a new lover, who hugs her in her dreams and makes her drunk on life. Where would she be without her love?

Tonight she goes off on a ride to a far away place where no one knows her name and and no one knows her face. She will become one with the people and speak of their vernacular. She will be one with herself as she learns to appreciate more of who she is and where she comes from.

She is not useless, worthless, fruitless, and she is not a reckless abandon. She is adventurous, intrepid, selfish and wise. Wherever she goes, she leaves a piece of herself; a life so full of curiosity and love for everything and everyone. She makes way for other people to shine and has the heart of a lion.

She will roar for what she believes in and does not need anyone’s disapproval or condoning. She makes way for her happiness. This is the story of a city girl lost in her own world.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
