My First Apartment

Here I come!

My First Apartment

For 18 years I lived in a house. For 2 years I lived in a dorm, this will be my first time living in an apartment.

It will be a drastic change for me. It will allow me to spread out more and spread out my wings, unlike in a dorm I had to share space with another person, but now I can have a room to myself and a bathroom to myself.

Going into my junior year of college I wanted to be in an apartment and not in a dorm on campus. I am hoping that it will be a good experience for me. Getting to be really on my own and cooking my own food, and not just the gross dining hall food.

It will be different living with three other girls, three complete opposite girls. This will test on how well we can all live together and work together. It is good that I already know 2 of the people that I will be living with, but it will be interesting on how it will work out with her since we all three have never met her.

With girls we can be a little bratty with each other, when we get mad at each other or when we need something done we use notes, we usually don’t use words. I am at fault for this, I used to do this with my ex-suite mate last school year. Unlike boys where when they have a problem with each other they would verbally handle it.

Although we get our own space, we still have to share quite a bit of stuff, like stuff in the kitchen and our living area. We all have to make sure that we all keep everything neat, and not all disorganized and messy. It will be a real bummer if one person is messy and all the rest of the three are neat.

There are going to be down sides on living in an apartment. Such as: getting up 10 minutes before class and just walking out the door, or not having to drive to get to class. Although the up sides are getting my own room and own bathroom (big emphasis on the own bathroom).

A good thing about living in an apartment is that there are other college kids that also live in those same apartments. They either go to my college or go to a different college, but you all can get together and have a good time.

It will be an exciting ride. Seeing if I like living in the apartments, or if it is to over whelming or not a good fit for me.

With all of that said, I am extremely excited to move into an apartment with two of my very good friends. Only one more week till I get to live in my very first apartment, it will be a good experience for me that I’m looking extremely forward to. Although I am a little nervous it will cool to live in an apartment.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
