As you go off to college, you will be living in a new area. You will make a home in your new college town. You may notice there are many different things to do in your new town that are unlike your hometown. If you come from a small town like I have, then moving across the state is a huge change. I came from a small hole in Louisiana called Chalmette and now I'm in a very different town where everything is called "Tangi," also known as Hammond.
When I finally decided to attend my current school, I fell in love with the town...especially downtown. Back in my hometown there was hardly anything to do so on the weekends; I'd be sitting at home like a bump on a log. But when I came to Hammond, I instantly fell in love. If you've ever been to Hammond, you know you have to visit downtown. Downtown is my most favorite place to be! I've always wanted to live in a small town like you see on TV.
Living in a college town is very fun and very vibrant! There's always something to do, like festivals or football games in the fall and baseball games in the spring! The college town community is very tightly knit and lovable. Everyone here in Hammond just likes to talk to you. I couldn't tell you how many random people I've held conversations with! It's very easy to make friends in any college town.
There's also the partying side of the college town. You won't get judged for going out all hours of the night drunk off your behind on a Thursday night. (That's normal for us here in Hammond.) This also qualifies under the category of "always have something to do". There are always a ton of parties to go to and enjoy yourself!
Living in a college town is very different from living in your hometown. Not only are you without your parents to tell you what to do, but you have a whole new town to discover right at your feet! Everyone has different experiences, but I love my college town and all that comes with it!
