Have you ever wondered what your purpose is in your faith? Have you ever asked God to make you dangerous? God made us to live a life that is dangerous; dangerously serving Him and making disciples in His name.
In these past four days, I had the privilege of attending a Christian conference, SMC, where I heard how the Lord has worked through many different people. While the various talks I sat through differed, one thing remained constant – the Lord’s unfailing love for us.
It all goes back to the ultimate sacrifice, when God sent his only son to die on the cross for our sin. Jesus was made 100% God and 100% man, therefore Christ conquered death and rose again to create a path to heaven for us all.
Knowing this sacrifice, we are called to serve the Lord. The Lord’s purpose prevails in us, as we are disciples of Christ and were created to spread His word. It is put simply in John 14:6, “Jesus said to him. ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’”
Christ courageously and dangerously served the Father, so, why can’t we? The Lord works in ways that we may not understand, and it is for a reason. God allows us to know his “public will” through the Bible, but his “private will”, the things we do not understand, are kept to God himself.
As followers of Christ, we have to choose to trust in the Lord, that he is always working in our favor and never against us – that is faith. This is how the Bible describes faith in Hebrews 11, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”
The Lord gave His only son to live a life that was dangerously devoted to Him, serving Him for all his days. As children of God, we must live a passionate, serving life that is dangerous in the sense that we are devout followers and disciples.
