With one semester of college under my belt, I've come to realize how amazing it is to have the opportunity to receive an education. I have a plethora of resources at my disposal and I feel as though I am on the right path at Marywood. However, I did not single handedly get to this position. I have to say that I have lived a comfortable life. As far back as I can remember, my parents were the ones who gave me all I have. They both have worked so hard to make my life as easy as it could be. From a young age, they instilled values in me that have molded me into the person I am today. Work ethic, gratefulness, compassion and strength are only a few qualities that my parent's have strived to impart to me.
With all of this in mind, it would be wrong of me to say that my life has been a breeze. I've faced obstacles that seemed impossible to overcome. I've faced struggle and disappointment. We all have, so I'm not expecting anyone to feel pity. However, I was able to get through my difficulties with the help of those who have supported me, and those who have provided for me. I know that some are not as lucky as I am and to be quite honest I wouldn't even call it luck. But truthfully, words cannot express how grateful I am for these people and what they have done to keep me happy.
I am fortunate enough to have two loving, encouraging, caring and supportive parents that have given me all I need to succeed. My parents brought my sister and I on vacations, to amusement parks and made both of our childhood's unforgettable. We had family traditions that we still hold to this day. The memories we have made from these experiences are irreplaceable and have brought me such happiness in my 18 years. I'm aware that some people my age have not had this blessing so it makes me that much more thankful for it.
The definition of a comfortable life differentiates from person to person. For some, it just means a job, a roof to live under and the basic necessities. Sometimes it means more, sometimes less. Whatever it may be, living comfortably is something that we should never take for granted.
