People have this idea of what living in a sorority house is like based on "Legally Blonde" or "Greek." People think of the archaic rules, like not being able to have boys in the house. They think about a house full of drama or girls in their underwear putting on each other's make-up or having pillow fights. But, I am here to tell you what it is actually like.S
1. There are always people who do not live there hanging out at the house, but it's fine. They're your sisters.
2. Trash everywhere. All the time.
3. During recruitment/big little/homecoming season, all you will hear is dozens of voices and loud music, and you will smell glue and paint.
4. If there is a spider, bug or really any kind of non-human creature in the house, you will hear screams.
5. Privacy? What is that?
6. When your roommates wake up, you wake up.
7. When your roommates go downtown and you stay at the house, be prepared to take care of someone.
8. You have a lot of people to ask opinions on your outfits, homework, Instagram captions and boy problems.
9. Parking is always and will forever be an issue, no matter what the rules are.
10. Every time someone knocks on the door, it is a struggle to go and answer it, because you probably answered it 50 times that day.
11. Trying to watch your favorite TV show with 10 other girls and having to put the captions on because they won't stop laughing and talking.
12. Getting extremely close to the girls that live in the house.
13. You are able to literally hop out of bed during recruitment season or any function held at the house.
14. Being completely random and getting the entire house to play hide and go seek at 12 a.m. or making s'mores on the grill.
15. Coming downstairs to always find someone in the living room.
16. Being completely freaked out when no one is home because there is always someone home.
17. Having 15 other closets to go through when you can't find something to wear.
18. Knowing everything about everyone.
19. Always have someone to do your hair or make-up for you.
20. Finding out about every social, or party.
21. Always having a sober driver to pick you up from a party or take you to McDonald's.
22. Never having to eat alone.
23. Never having good WiFi.
24. Always having someone to cuddle with or a shoulder to cry on.
Living in your sorority house is something very special that not every sorority girl experiences. Living at the house gives you a much stronger and closer bond to your sorority and your sisters. Your sisters become more like your family. You start to eat, breathe, and live sisterhood, and your sisterhood becomes the very best part of your life.
