I am one of those people who is guilty of wishing there were more hours in the day. With a couple extra hours I would be able to hang out with more people and actually get everything done. I wouldn’t feel as stressed trying to cram everything into one day.
The issue is we live in a place where there are time limitations. There are only 24 hours in a day and 365 days in a year. The sun will always rise and set at the same time. Time will always try to run away from us and we will always try to catch up with it.
We live in a world where we also have time expectations. We constantly sit around waiting for the right moment as if time wasn’t already ticking. We wish time away so often that we end up having too much or not enough of it.
If only time could be rationed and given when needed most.
But as we all know, it doesn’t work that way.
We constantly want to fast forward or rewind time that we forget to embrace the people and places we are surrounded by. Our minds think about the past and the future so often that we lose sight of what it’s like to live in the present.
The fact is we don’t have the power to create time. We only have the power to make the most of it.
Every moment we have been given is a stepping stone to the next point in life. And without each stepping stone, we wouldn't be where we are right now.
This means that every stone we walk along is a small gift. And a gift from God should never be left in a corner unwrapped, unloved, and uninvited. It should be embraced and enjoyed as often as possible.
Life is filled with more laughter, excitement, grace, encouragement, and serenity when we acknowledge the little time we have. True happiness only comes from within ourselves by embracing the world we have around us.
Making the most of the gifts we currently have allows us to be even more creative. Taking advantage of the friends we have now allows us to get to know them on a deeper level. Embracing the opportunities we have today allows us to find interest in something we may never have learned before.
Instead of letting time run away, we have to make an effort to reach out, grab on tightly, and run alongside it.
What we have right now can change our lives forever if we give it the opportunity to.
And embracing the moments our Creator provides can move us in a way we never thought possible.
