Step Outside Your Comfort Zone
Kilroy

Throughout your life you've probably heard someone say to you that you need to "step outside your comfort zone," "go beyond the box you're in."

Have you ever heard that statement?

Well I have many times and growing up, I was somewhat shy when I was younger so of course I was terrified to push myself beyond my limits. Even with that feeling inside of me tugging on my heart, cause deep down I knew I was supposed to, I wouldn't make a move. I was the shy kid who no one could break out of her shell and that didn't want anyone to notice her, but it wasn't like I wanted to be in that "shell" it was just I didn't know how to break out.

Then one day I stumbled over what then I didn't know would be one of my favorite verses of all time :

" Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord Your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:19

What does that means?

To put it in a simpler term, imagine it like this; You are up in the air thousands of feet. Why are you in the air first off and especially why thousands of feet?? You may wonder, because, you are skydiving.

Now, if you've never been skydiving it's okay because neither have I, but whether you have or not we all know the basics.

You get on a plane to wherever they want to take you and you start to prepare for a fall of thousands of feet to the ground.

Sounds crazy and even terrifying; I know.

Alright, so why am I bringing this up? It's simple. Well, aw you're falling you have to put your trust in that parachute to guide you safely to the ground. Before you even get to that point, though, you have to take that have and jump.

Now you have done it and you are safely on the ground, with the help of your "parachute" that helped you make the fall safely without any broken bones.

Don't you see?? God is our real life "parachute", He has called us to live fearlessly and to take awesome chances because He will be there to guide you in those leaps of faith you take.

Isn't that absolutely amazing????

He put you on this earth to live life to the fullest, and when I say that I don't mean "sneaking out past curfew to go to a party" or to do things that wouldn't please Him, but live life to the fullest in a way that honors His kingdom and that glorifies Him.

Now what's my advice to you? Be that person that you're dying to be and break out of your shell because we were called to do so and you need to experience what "living fearlessly" could do in your life and for the God's Kingdom.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
