Time rules the world we live in. Time dictates when we eat. Time dictates when we meet up with people, when the sun sets, our age and anything and everything that takes place before us. Time. Such a dominant element of our lives that goes unnoticed.
Time is so precious and valuable in the moment, but at the same time it is constantly taken for granted. You've had that lazy Sunday morning when you wake up late, cling to your sheets and claim to the world that you are unable to move a muscle to start your day. We disregard the fact that the finite hours we have are wasted laying in bed for that extra hour of rest. Time, in this case, is taken for granted. We live out our days in the fall during school wishing for summer weather, and when summer comes around we wish for those chilly, winter days with layers of snow gently covering the windows and sidewalks. The idea of the seasons and the beauty of the changing Earth is rushed and looked past, which depicts time being taken for granted once again.
People think that we find opportunities in life to succeed or even meet people. I believe that time presents us with these opportunities. You can end up meeting someone at the right place at the right time, and you could end up spending the rest of your life with them. The time you spend practicing a talent will lead to your success in that area.
Everything good comes from time, so why is our human race inclined to hasten it when there is only a minimal amount to live through? Why do we crave the future and what's to come when we only have control over how our minutes are spent in the present? Instead of debilitating the time of our lives that we have left thinking about life's next step, our time should be lived out with complete gratitude and engagement in the now. Go on an adventure. Zipline in Haiti. Hike the mountains or cliff-jump in Colorado. Swim with the sharks in Florida. Take your precious time and enjoy every second that is spent towards whatever you want in life.
Don't spend your hours thinking about the igloo you want to make in December, or the cup of hot chocolate you want to hold near your fireplace. Go for a walk and enjoy the fall weather. Weather you like it or not, winter is on its way no matter how much time you wish for or resent the cold.
Time does not replenish. Live in the moment. Spend it how you wish, but spend it wisely.
