Doing What's Best For You

I know it's difficult doing things that you think is best for you but others may not. Some people whose opinions mean the world to you may disagree with a decision you're making, even though it might be what's best for you. No matter what you do or say to try to convince them that you need to do this, they just will always have their opinions on what's right or wrong and will disagree if that is what they believe.

What matters though is your happiness but at the end of the day, it's your life. You need to do the things you believe in, even when others don't believe you can do it. Everyone has their own opinions but it is your life and you can't let anyone else control it except you. It's especially difficult if you're a people pleaser and like to please everyone else before you. But that's something you have to learn to deal with. If it's not making you happy then you don't have to deal with it, if something else makes you happy go for it and live your dreams out. You are the only person that can make it happen and the one who can accomplish whatever you set your mind to.

In my opinion, people need to do things for themselves, whether family, friends or any loved ones disagree with it. Everyone else should support them in their decision and let them live their life. If it ends up being a mistake then they will learn. Everyone makes mistakes in life, it happens we are only human. But what is that to stop someone from living their dream or doing something they enjoy? You can't control everyone's life, only yours, so worry about what makes you happy and not everyone else.

With that being said go out there and live your life to the fullest it can possibly be. Stop working so much and travel more. Get that tattoo you've always dreamed about, money can always come back. Apply for that job that you may not get. Chop your hair off, buy a new wardrobe, change your major, hell even change schools if you have too. Date the person you've had a crush on, buy a plane ticket to somewhere you've always wanted to go, move to a different city. Do all the things you're scared of, in the end, if they make you happy they're so worth it. If it's happiness you're after, do anything you can to get it. Living life not being happy isn't something anyone should go through. So live life to the best you can and accomplish all you wish to do. Put your mind to it and you can achieve anything.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
