For some people, they have a difficult time saying what they want to say, what they're thinking of, or how they feel. Some people it's a different story …
People like myself, we just can't keep our mouthes shut. Our opinions, which sometimes can be irrelevant to what is currently happening, just come out like a radio station. We speak, what comes to our mind, or as I put it Thinking Out LOUD (TOL)
Now we all know someone in our lives, maybe more than one person that lives this way. And there is nothing wrong with it at all! One dear teacher of mine once said to my mom, "I never have to worry about what's on her mind, she just says it."
Of course there are times where our mouthes and our thoughts can get us in a little (or a lot) of trouble. One time I remember I was observing my science teacher in class, she was so smart and knew so much about what she was teaching. I raised my hand, "Mrs. Hollow, why did you become a high school science teacher? You could've been so much more" With this, the entire class, including my teacher looked in shock, I was quickly yelled at like I insulted her, but I really meant no harm.
So that was an oopsy ...
In writing this, I want to just advocate what it's like being someone who just takes the phrase "Whats on your mind?" more literally than figuratively.
You see something, right away you have an opinion. But suddenly…It comes out
- You are currently in the library with a friend, you see someone wearing an outfit a little too much to show for a casual evening. The person walks by and her shirt is see through, clearly…
As someone who thinks out loud, you immediately react to this by turning to your friend and saying "Holy shit I can see her nipples"
Now the person by now has past you far enough not to hear you, but lets give another example.
You are watching a movie in a movie theater you see a character that reminds you of someone you know….
"HE LOOKS LIKE CHARLES!" Oops … Were in a quiet movie theater. Also the movie character is the bad guy, and kind of scary looking, and is your friend's boyfriend who is sitting next to you….
Oops indeed.
However, there are many many different situations that thinking out loud is an amazing thing.
You are at a bar, and you see someone starting a fight with another person. "Oh no" you think "Stop this" you think, and then:
Hey, Hey. Stop that, yeah you, enough, oh yea? Well let me just get the bouncer, I don't care that's not right. Stop, stop.
While others just watch, or possibly someone sees you stepping in and it inspires them to help as well.
Now I'm not saying this is a story I have had personally, but most of these examples are similar to situations I've been in, some more some less.
Be proud of who you are, and don't let yourself fear other people's thoughts when you say what's on your mind. More than likely you are right.
No one is perfect, and there will be times you will be wrong, but more than likely if you are the type of person who speaks out loud you may have a good opinion on situations or advice.
So tell me "What's on your mind?"
