To My Little,
Ever since I've become a part of Alpha Omicron Pi, I've dreamt of the day that I'd become a Big Sister. I remember the anticipation of getting my own Big and how happy I was to have someone so wonderful come into my life. What an honor it was to be chosen and nurtured as her sister. I learned so much about what sisterhood meant, about expectations, and about what I wanted to be when it was my turn. I wanted to be someone that my little could look up to, but also have fun with. I wanted to be everything and more for this beautiful soul that I would soon call "little."
Luckily, my time has finally come. When I got the message about getting you as my little, days felt like years before I could call you mine. After the anticipation of Big Sis Week, full of glitter and all-night crafting sessions, I finally got my perfect Little Sister just about a month ago and I couldn't be happier. I knew well how being a Little impacted my life, but the benefits of having a Little are life-changing and just becoming clear to me.
Because of you, I've become a better person, the person I've always wanted to be. Someone who is strong and confident. Someone that you can rely on for matters large and small. Someone that will take you to get ice-cream when you're sad or stay in and order pizza with you when you're happy. Someone who will be your date to date-parties, and the one to dance like a fool with. Someone that you know will always be around for your successes and failures, and there will be lots of both. And I'm going to be here for all of them. For forever.
That's the thing about sisterhood: it isn't confined to any academic calendar. It's a lifelong commitment. Little, you're the light of my life. You're my go-to, you're my best friend. I cannot thank you enough for the beautiful back-and-forth of this relationship, for the opportunity to guide you, and, especially, for the path you've made clear for me. Together we can go anywhere. I love you always and am so incredibly lucky to call you mine.
Xoxo,
Big
