Starting off your very first college kitchen can sometimes be confusing. But don't worry, all you need is to remember the essentials!
Nutribullet:
You can throw any collection of fruits, juices, and veggies into this fancy little bullet and blend it right up for a healthy, refreshing meal or snack at any time of the day. This is a great way to utilize frozen fruits!
Keurig:
Not only can you use this to make delicious tea and coffee at home to save money, you can also use this as a way to get hot water for other cooking endeavors.
Water filter (Brita):
If you’re living in an apartment without a fresh water filter, this is an inexpensive and essential part of every college household!
Emergen-C packets:
We all know that college is the home of every flu, cold, etc. Drink a couple packets a day of some extra Vitamin C and you'll be feeling better in no time.
George Foreman grill:
If you want to make steaks, burgers, chicken, or hot sandwiches, this grill is the perfect kitchen accessory.
Noodles:
If you’re feeling sick, you’re too lazy to cook an actual dinner, or you need a quick side dish, a box of noodles is easy and fast to make and also very cheap!
Dried fruit:
These can last a very long time without going stale, and are the perfect addition to any nut or snack mix, adding flavor and nutrients.
Peanut Butter:
PB is the perfect ingredient to add to desserts, to pastas for a nutty flavor, or simply to some bread and call it a day!
A treat:
Its important to reward yourself sometimes after a long day of school work, a good grade on a test, or a good workout. This is why it's important to keep a favorite treat in your kitchen at all times to enjoy, savor, and look forward to.
Spices:
This might seem simple, but it's one of those things that many students do not think about when they move out of their house into their own home. Make sure you don't forget all of the basic and necessary spices to add to your cooking, it can make all the difference!
Basic sandwich ingredients:
Everyone loves them, they're easy to make, and it basically takes no time and effort, especially when you're running late to class!
Chip clips:
Don’t let the food that you’ve so carefully budgeted into your monthly pay go stale!
My last tip is to share things like condiments, eggs, and milk and anything else you feel you can all share with your roommates. Although at times things may run out faster, which is annoying, buying basic ingredients as a household is a good way to save money and make sure things don't go bad. Plus, that means there's more room in the fridge for everyone and more money saved in each of your pockets!
