About six months ago, my sister recommended a podcast to me that she had been listening to nonstop for weeks. I had never actually listened to a podcast for leisure before, only for classes, but I was about to make a three-hour drive by myself and was up for trying something new.
Let me preface this article by saying that if you're in any way offended or uncomfortable with foul language, women who talk openly about feminist issues, sexual narratives, and some seriously crude humor, this is not the podcast for you. However, if you're someone who enjoys all of that good stuff, I can promise you that you won't be disappointed.
"Guys We Fucked" is a weekly hour to hour and a half podcast hosted in the within the New York City apartments of Krystyna Hutchinson and Corrine Fisher. This honest and outspoken duo, also known as "Sorry About Last Night," have been performing comedy all over the country since 2011. They've attracted attention from media outlets such as E!.com, PerezHilton.com, US Weekly.
The initial premise of the show was for these two women to interview past lovers and boyfriends, basically picking their brain and discussing that individual's personal experiences. Over the years the podcast has evolved beyond interviewing just the men they've slept with. They now invite an extremely diverse assortment of people onto the show. Hutchinson and Fisher are well known for their in-depth interviews with celebrities like Amber Rose and Jenni "JWOWW" Farley. Their no boundaries, no bullshit approach to discussing taboo topics has earned them over one million listeners, worldwide.
Okay, so for starters, I never knew I could genuinely enjoy listening to two people talk so much. These women are real people talking about real shit and it's actually exciting and refreshing to listen to. "Guys We Fucked" is the perfect mental pick-me-up. Listening to it makes me feel good about myself. I've listened to over twenty-five hours of the show over the past few months. I've laughed so hard I've had to pull into a gas station so I wouldn't pee my pants. I've cried so hard I've had to pull over so I wouldn't get in an accident. This podcast will make you feel a hundred different emotions within two episodes and one three hour car ride. Think of it as an emotional road trip.
Nicknamed the "anti-slut-shaming podcast", these women have helped hundreds of thousands of people feel personally liberated and understood simply by the touch of a button. They've very quickly become role models for me and I feel like listening to their show has not only taught me a lot about how to cope with current issues today in feminism and everyday catastrophes, but it's taught me a lot about myself. It makes me feel so human, and proud to be a woman.
I couldn't recommend something more. This show has done so much for me and my mental health, I look forward to it every single week. So if you're looking for something a little different, raw, and authentic, look no further. "Guys We Fucked" has what you need.
