Friends are an essential part of life. They are necessary.
The other day I was sitting outside, enjoying a beautiful day, and doing homework with friends. We were laughing, chatting, sharing stories and jokes, and just simply enjoying being with one another. All of a sudden a lovely group of girls walked up to us with a basket asking if we wanted to take a piece of candy. Of course we all said yes without realizing that attached to every candy was a little motivational quote. Mine read "a flower doesn't try to compete with the flower next to it, it just blooms". The friend on my right had a not so inspirational not that read something like "Don't worry, then you just suffer twice." which just turned into many more laughs and a fun memory. But two of my friends got the same message which then became our sort of mantra for the past few days and it said "Life is tough, but so are you".
We loved it. We kept saying it for the rest of the evening but also one of the friends suggested that I write my next article on this, so here we are.
As I turned this over in my head thinking about what that really meant I just had more and more thoughts pop into my mind. Life is tough, but you are even tougher. And it's not so much the "you" that is tough but it's what supports you that makes you tough. Think about having your own personal army, wouldn't that be cool? Well it actually is. That's what your friends, your family, and your creator are, your own personal army. These are the ones that will fight for you. The trials life throws at you are no match for the people who hold you up.
"Friends are medicine for a wounded heart and vitamins for a hopeful soul"
Life is tough, but so are we.
