Author’s Note: I leave it to you the readers what this story means. I know what I see this story as I wrote it, but our minds interpret based on our feelings or situations. Maybe just like how unique each and every one of us are, so will our interpretations.
The day began just like any other: the sun rose shooting its silver streaks through the trees, awakening the immensity of life in the world. In the corner of the world, there were two rivers. One ran straight and calmly as life huddled around it almost as if they couldn’t get enough of its quenching gift. Not too far away was the second river—it was rough and nothing could calm its currents. The land around this river was barren and desolate due to the feel that surrounded the water.
The wind began to blow in a strange way, dark masses rolling and tumbling across the sky bringing along with its booming drums. And there it stopped, right above the two rivers, blocking out any light from the sun. The waters thrashed around as the earth was molded by the running water, life hid away from the storm as soon as the rain began to fall from above and the banging and crashing were heard from atop the trees.
The storm raged on and life continued to grow and adapt to the new environment and conditions until one day, a familiar light broke through the trees and they listened to them, all that was heard was the sound of rushing waters crashing against the rocks as the earth eroded. The smell of the moist soil and dampened greens filled the air, morning dew was covering everything that was known in the new world.
Life wandered about to explore and learn about their new home and the first thing that was seen shocked and astonished life; the two rivers now joined together rushed through the forest. The gentle river where life flourished was now nowhere to be found and treacherous rapids were found in its place. There were a few insignificant spots of hope where the river would seem to calm, but it never lasted long. Life would have to learn to adapt to this river or try to venture out into the unknown looking for a new place to inhabit. As Michael Crichton in "Jurassic Park" once said, “Life will find a way.”
An effort was made at first to try to make the best of the new domain and it seemed to go well. Rocks and branches were strategically put in place to try and calm the beast and life grew more than ever with such a large gentle area ready for their dwelling. Little did life know that the beast wasn’t tamed at all, it was mildly subdued for the time being until it would be ready once again to release its full veracity.
Some time passed and a familiar setting began to take place again. Silver streaks of light began to disappear one by one as the blackened clouds rolled overhead. BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! And life hid away again, finding whatever shelter possible to get away from what was sure to be the end. The droplets fell slowly at first and then all at once, it seemed never-ending. And electricity shot from the sky knocking over trees and shaking the earth, this was a whole new kind of storm and it lasted three times as long as the last.
When the time came and the monster had passed life was nowhere to be found, it left to find a new territory and all the forest had become dead and deserted.
