Kanye West’s seventh studio album "The Life of Pablo" has been out since Valentine’s Day and it’s an album I’ve thoroughly enjoyed to the point I downloaded Tidal to hear it. The album went through a number of changes to album title over the course of its announcement and track listing days prior to its release but personally I’m pleased with the result. The 18 song album was full of gems and these five are the shiniest to me.
1. "Ultralight Beam"
The melody hits me when this song. It starts off slow and with Kanye that is usually a great thing. The production is great and Chance the Rapper’s verse on this song is just what you need as an appetizer to Chance’s third mixtape/album.
2. "Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1"
The beginning of this song is deceiving as you think that the song is another slow start until you hear “If Young Metro don’t trust you, I’m going to shoot.” Because a Metro Boomin produced song and slow is a rare occurrence. And having Kid Cudi grace my ears after the less than appealing "Satellite Flight" album. Listen to it.
3. "Pt. 2"
The worst part of this song is also the best thing about it and that is Desiigner’s (not Future’s) panda verse. Repeated Pandas are enough to annoy someone but the beat carries it to the point you can accept the annoyance.
4. "I Love Kanye"
45 seconds on how much Kanye loves Kanye sounds pretentious but it has comedic value that acts like an interlude to the music. And for the heavy fans you’ll enjoy hearing Kanye tell you he loves you like he loves himself. Because who doesn’t need Kanye’s love?
5. "No More Parties in LA"
King Kendrick! Kanye and Kendrick is a combination that works well and the song is something one definitely needs to blast from their car at obnoxious volumes.
