It is easy to have goals and dreams that you speak of and ponder about. It is easy to talk about where you want to go in life and where you would like to go to college after graduating high school. However, we can all talk the talk, the true test comes when it is time to buckle down and walk the walk.
Don't get me wrong, college isn't for everyone and not everyone has the same motives. I know for me, going off to college was, of course, something I wanted to do and something I had to do in order to begin chasing after my dreams, but it was a shaky start.
Saying the word college to me was alarming and made me feel almost like I was hurriedly gasping for air after being under water for a long period of time. I always wanted to be an Aggie of course, but the thought of me, a small town girl, going off to a University like Texas A&M almost seemed like I was biting off way more than I could chew. At times I doubted myself and thought there was no way I could be successful there on my own.
So far, I have proven myself wrong. I always say, "Where there is a will there is a way," and that couldn't be truer. With God's help and guidance, along with your determination to be the best that you can be, things tend to unfold like they should.
I am a very determined person, if I say I am going to do something, I will usually find a way to get it done. Whether it be cramming a 16-week course into two short weeks to get the credit you need or getting up at 5 A.M. some mornings to get a workout in before a busy day. A lot of it has to do with self discipline.
Your dreams or education is almost like a tedious picture that you need to slowly color. You can easily become overwhelmed when trying to decide what color to use next. At times all you may want to do is scribble all over it and call it good.
Coloring in the lines may seem impossible, but when you take it color by color and stroke by stroke, it will slowly turn into a beautiful print. God is in control and by His power and will, along with your hard work and determination, things pan out like they should.
Color gently, productively and wisely. Be the best that you can be in all that you choose to do.
