Dear Donald Trump,
Please go away. You’re a joke, and not a funny one. Your recent speech on immigration not only cemented my dislike for you, but my belief that not only are you a bigot, but an out of touch one as well. You seem to forget what the Statue of Liberty in your great state symbolizes. You seem to forget that the foundation of this country is the blood and tears of the Native Americans. You seem to forget that this country was made of immigrants.
Not one of us, except those who were rightfully here before us, can claim that we are not an immigrant. We are. Without our ancestors coming here, you wouldn’t have the ability to sit on that stage spewing the hate you love to spew. Of course, when this argument is made there is always someone who loves to interject that their family came here legally. That may be so, but the first settlers sure as hell didn’t. Your hateful rhetoric has ripped the country in half, but on the bright side, now we know who the racists and bigots in this country are. That may sound harsh, but it’s true. The hypocrisy is astounding. You seem to forget Mr. Trump that once you cast all the immigrants out of America you will suddenly find yourself with a shortage of employees.
That’s because you, like most American businesses, profit off the plight of those immigrants that come to America seeking a better life. They aren’t all criminals, they aren’t all murderers and they aren’t all rapists. As with any group of people there will always be people who commit horrific crimes and as with everyone else, they should be punished. They aren’t stealing jobs from the American people. Simply put, most of these immigrants do jobs that most Americans look down upon or don’t want anyway.
There is more than enough room in this country for everyone. Maybe the first thing you should focus on is making the immigration process easier, less expensive, less punitive and more accessible, instead of focusing on task forces and deportation plans. How dare you cast the Hispanic and Muslim people as something they are not. They come here for a better life as our ancestors did many years ago. It is clear to me that you and your supporters are scared. You are afraid of what America is becoming.
The tides are now changing. The bigotry and the racism that many liked to believe wasn’t there is rearing it's ugly head, but we are slowly but surely becoming a country where all races are actually equal. It seems to me like you just can’t stand that. Your hate can’t change what our country is becoming and I know it’s upsetting to you. So keep on trying to make America great, maybe one day you’ll realize how truly great it already is.
