Calling all Gilmore Girls fans! The Netflix revival is real and it is happening. Characters including Rory, Lorelai, Luke, Emily, Lane, and Kirk will be making a reappearance to hopefully shine a light on what exactly happened after Rory’s graduation. In even more exciting news, Amy Sherman-Palladino, the show’s original creator who left the show for season eight following a contract dispute, will be returning to finish the brilliancy she started back in 2000.
With the excitement of the future of Gilmore Girls on our minds, this is a great time to look back on all the insightful lessons Lorelai Gilmore has taught us.
1. Sleep is the number one priority.
Getting your beauty sleep is key, never mind the fact that it also helps your brain recharge and allows your body to rest.
2. Mornings are hard, so they should probably be avoided at all costs.
Realistically the day shouldn't start before noon.
3. Maintaining a firm grasp on reality is an important part of growing up.
Not everything is always going to go your way, but the best way to deal? Accept it and move on. No sense in dwelling on something you can’t change.
4. Pizza is more than just a movie night staple.
For some, pizza is just a greasy food that increases the size of your waistline. In the Gilmore house it is much, much more.
5. Coffee is necessary to perform daily tasks.
Caffeine should be an integral part of everyday life. Coffee deprivation will lead to a decreased ability to function properly.
6. Flexibility is important, but so is compromise.
Why should you have to change for everyone else when your way of doing things is obviously the right one?
If we boil it down to its simplest form, finding a significant other doesn’t sound so intimidating. If only everyone had Lorelai’s mindset…
8. Self-confidence is crucial, especially when it feels like the whole world is against you.Everyone has something to offer, never let anyone tell you otherwise!
9. At the same time, one indicator of maturity is the awareness of your weaknesses.
The only way we can continue to become better people is by acknowledging the areas in which we struggle, regardless of their significance.
10. Sometimes your heart takes control over your brain.
When it comes to love, we don't always act or speak rationally. But that’s when you know something’s real.
11. It is important to find people with similar interests as you.
There’s no doubt that it's easier to get along with people who share a common interest or hobby, so when you find them make sure to tell them how you feel.
12. It is always necessary to leave time for letting loose.
It’s easy to get caught up in the hectic craziness of our day to day lives, but if anyone knows anything about letting go and having a good time, it's Lorelai Gilmore.
There’s no denying that Lorelai has been through it all. Lucky for us we can watch from the outside and learn from the good, the bad, and the ugly of life as a Gilmore girl.
