Wednesday Addams: ultimate child of woe, master of monotone, and cult queen of shade.
In a school full of overly chipper girls obsessed with Lisa Frank and Barbies, let's just say, the dark and brooding Wednesday was my hero. And unbeknownst to my 6 year old self, she was also my mentor. Because who better to prepare you for life and all its struggles than the girl who gave no cares. Here are just a few life lessons from the one and only, Wednesday Addams.
1. Be Prepared
Life can come out of nowhere so it is always a good idea to keep a few things around in case of emergency. Things like umbrellas, spare change, socks, and yes, maybe even a copy or two of that essay you spent hours working on.
2. Embrace challenges
Challenges come and go, it's part of life. Yeah, they can make the struggle oh so much harder, but look at these obstacles as a chance to prove to yourself that you belong there and nothing is going to hold you back.
3. Take Risks
Life gets pretty boring when you stay in your comfort zone. Go ahead, talk to your crush! Join that club! Try out for that group! Apply for that position! Who knows, something you weren't quite expecting just might spark.
4. Call It Like You See It
Life's too short to be dealing with the fakers and the haters. And it's too short for you to be dealing with their drama. Call it like you see it and move on. High school is overrated and you already graduated.
5. Don't Be Afraid To Questions
Don't know the answer? Ask! Asking questions will lead to finding answers and those answers will broaden your mind. The more you ask, the more you'll discover. Face it, you don't know everything and that is okay!
6. Find joy in the little things
Find a good parking spot? Barista knows your order by heart? Your jam comes on the radio? Feel free to stop and celebrate the small wins, in all its forms, that come your way. It's the small things in life that make everything worthwhile.
7. And finally....BE YOURSELF
If anything, Wednesday Addams taught us to always be ourselves, despite those around us telling us differently. Life is too short to try being anyone else. So go ahead, dance to your beat, shrug off the comments and the weird looks, and make no apologies for who you are.
