Growing up little kids have the biggest imaginations whether it’s a little girls fantasy of living in a castle or a little boys dream of becoming Superman, Batman, or any other superhero or villain.

But I want to say thank you to J.K. Rowling for creating something my imagination never could of at such a young age or even at age 19. Because the book brought wizards, witches, and magic to a whole new level.

The whole concept of going to a school dedicated to learning magic and applying it to everyday life blew my mind. "Harry Potter" brought so much emotion including happiness, sadness and fear.

Like many other people, I read every "Harry Potter" book including the newest one that just recently came out. People have tried to tell me the movies are better than the books but I believe the people who are saying that never read the books or even gave them a chance.

Because yes it is easier to just watch a movie but what people don’t understand is that when you read a book you can create your own interpretation of it. Especially in J.K. Rowling’s writing.

It is very descriptive but there’s always room to have your own imagination and interpretation of it. Every time I opened a "Harry Potter" book it brought me into a whole new world. It was like an escape from reality. And I could never put the book down.

I read the books multiple times and each time it got even more interesting because the concepts challenged your mind to try to figure out what was going on.

"Harry Potter" was huge on putting the pieces together and figuring out who was who and why things were happening. And everything had a deeper meaning that applied to everyone’s life in some emotional way or another.

I learned many life lessons from reading and watching Harry Potter.

1. There’s a lot of things in life that are very scary and we just have to face them.

2. We are never really alone.

3. Family isn’t always blood.

4. Trust and respect your elders.

5. There’s more to people than you can see.

6. Love overrules everything.

7. Appearance isn’t everything-it can hide beautiful things.

8. ALWAYS keep your enemies close. (You never know who they really could be)

9. We can only learn from our past and use the lesson learned in our future.

10. Life without love isn’t worth living.

Even though I’ve grown up and am in college, I’ll always be upset that I didn’t get an acceptance letter into Hogwarts and my love will never fade for "Harry Potter."

"I solemnly swear that I am up to no good."

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
