The iconic Carrie Bradshaw. The girl most, if not every, young aspiring writer wants to be. She seems to have it all; a dream internship in Manhattan, and at just 16. Set pre-30's and in Connecticut, young Carrie is actually a lot like us. She's going through life and learning the same things we are, or should be, though maybe at a younger age than some. She's experiencing the ups and downs of high school, boys, trying to get her driver's license, and even exposure to some harsh realities of the world. Carrie definitely grows up fast, but there's a lot we can learn from her along her journey through life, and one the most important things is to be yourself.
And the second most important thing is that you probably shouldn't paint your purse with nail polish. It may have worked for Carrie, but I can't see that working out well in any other situation. What I did get from that is that you should channel your inner creativity. Not all that is ruined is lost.
But really, Carrie makes a good point/realization in every episode, so far, at least... I'm only seven episodes into the first season.
These are the top three (so far):
"That's the thing about goals; when we focus too much on our endgame, we can miss the fun of the journey, we can miss the detour that would take us somewhere even more rewarding." This couldn't be more true. While having goals for yourself is a good thing, you should never get too hung up on them. Life isn't just about reaching goals, it's about how you reach them. Take the time to enjoy life, and maybe make a few mistakes. You never know where they will take you.
And if you happen to not have any specific goals, that's okay too. It's totally acceptable and more than okay to not have a clue where you want to end up in life. When you're growing up, you're supposed to change your mind a thousand times and try things to figure out if they're for you. "Sometimes we need to stop analyzing the past, stop planning the future, stop figuring out precisely how we feel, stop deciding exactly what we want, and just see what happens."
"Spend less time thinking about guys, and focus more on your path in life." Now, this particular gem of wisdom didn't exactly come from Carrie, it came from her friend, Mouse, but regardless of who it came from, it's still a great point. Guys aren't everything. You need to build yourself and your own life and not waste ALL of your time on guys. With that being said, don't become one of those boring people who only has their career and no friends or love life at all. You can find a balance between both.
