Time and time again life happens. Well, life is always happening, but you know what I mean. Good things happen. Followed by the bad, and sometimes you will never understand why. I’m sure you have let something that took place in your life sit in your mind as you try to understand the reasoning behind it.
They say, “everything happens for a reason.” But “they” forget to tell you that sometimes that reason isn’t so obvious. “They” forget to mention that you might drive yourself crazy looking for that reason. “They” merely use this mantra as inspirational words on a canvas and forget that human beings want to be able to justify what they experience, whether it is good or bad. “They” don’t tell you what to do when you don’t know the reason. So pretty much “they” are no help. Whoever "they" are, they are worse than that know-it-all you sit near in class.
We try to dissect each event in our life looking for answers to all of the questions we have. And I guess we make things more complicated than they need to be in doing so. As much as I would like answers to certain things, I’ve realized sometimes you’re better off not knowing. (And as someone who likes to know everything, that was extremely painful for me to type just now.)
I guess that’s all you can do — take things for what they are at face value and nothing more. Because when you start to ask questions, the answers you receive might not be what you wanted to hear.
There is no way to prepare for the events that will take place throughout your life. Some will be silly minuscule instance’s such as, “Why did he text me?! We haven’t talked in months.” Some will be much more complicated and make you wonder, “Why do bad things happen to good people? This isn’t fair.” More often than not, you're left dazed and confused.
Unfortunately, we’re not meant to make sense of every little thing that happens to us. I wish I knew why, but that is simply how it goes. It challenges your ability to accept everything for exactly what it is instead of searching for an underlying meaning. And who doesn’t enjoy a challenge?
