77 Life Instructions Society Has Forgotten
Ariel Krikorian

The following 100 life instructions come from a book (written by H. Jackson Brown, Jr.) I received from my grandfather. He was given this book many years ago, and he thought I would enjoy it. My grandfather has taught me many things, among which is that family is most important, live with integrity, and love deeply. While this book is slightly outdated, and some of the instructions aren't necessarily applicable to this day and age - learn how to operate a Macintosh computer - this book is filled with many reminders for how to live a wholesome life. I have combed through this book and come up with the top 77 (out of 511) instructions that society has forgotten, but definitely shouldn't have.

1. Compliment three people every day.

2. Watch a sunrise at least once a year.

3. Remember other people's birthdays.

5. Look people in the eye.

6. Be forgiving of yourself & others.

7. Ask for a raise when you feel you've earned it.

17. Admit your mistakes.

18. Use your wit to amuse, not to abuse.

19. Remember that all news is biased.

20. Be brave. Even if you're not, pretend to be. No one can tell the difference.

There Is A Lack of Moral Equivalency Between Hamas and Israel

I don’t consider myself to be a religious individual. I was raised Catholic but I’ve never gotten much out of attending church. However, I remember reading about the history of the Jewish people in high school. It was astounding to me that a single religious minority could be singled out for so much persecution and hatred. I suppose that is why I consider myself a supporter of Israel. If any group of people deserves their own state and community, it is certainly the Jewish people. But with the advent of social media, more people are witnessing the deadly conflicts that occur between Israel and the Palestinian Islamic organization known as Hamas.

Doe: A Deer, A Feminist Deer

As a deer, I thought I would have been more likely to be hit by a car than by a tall, angry woman with dyed-gray hair.

Doe: A Deer, A Feminist Deer

After an encounter I had this weekend, I got to thinking about how everyone polices women’s bodies and choices in the most subconscious way. I was standing with my friend who was in line at Cheesie’s at 2:30 a.m. (obviously living our best life) when the woman standing behind us elbowed me out of line. She really aggressively shoved me and interrupted my friend's order so she could say to my friend that my deer costume contributed to men infantilizing women. She also said something about how I should go back to Kansas, but, again, it was 2:30 a.m. at Cheesie’s and I was pretty much a deer in the headlights at this point (lol): shocked and frozen in place.

When You Give A Girl A Horse
Molly Joiner

When you give a girl a horse, you give her the responsibility of caring for something other than herself. You make her life bigger and more vibrant. You give her confidence in herself, and teach her the importance of hard work. You'll teach her to think for herself and make her own decisions. You'll give her independence.
