Today as I walked across campus, a thought popped into my head – “my life has become a rewarding experience.” It’s a far cry from where I used to be years ago, so this revelation, which came to me completely spontaneously was an amazing feeling to have. Of course, like most people I know, I have a staggering ability to over-think about everything, so my next thought was “why? What brought me to this moment?”
I don’t think there’s a simple answer to this question. The truth is there are a lot of reasons why I feel fulfilled. For one thing, I’ve eliminated negative people from my life – people who drag me down and make me feel worse about life. Instead, I seem to have surrounded myself with positive, cheerful and hardworking people who respect me and appreciate me for who I am.
Another thing is I’m doing the things that I want to. I’m a music technology and public relations major; I’m not involved in either of those ‘just to make money,’ nor do I make a lot of decisions based on that factor. I do what I love and work with creative and intelligent people on a daily basis.
Lately, I’ve been working on several different albums by various talented composers, one of which involves receiving performances from some of my personal favorite artists. Who else gets the chance to mix people they’ve enjoyed listening to for years? Amazing.
I also noticed that I’m finding myself involved in a lot of things that challenge me to explore outside of my comfort zone. One of my favorite things to do is explore other cultures through food. I love food. Today, I was offered the chance to try real Indian food – something I’ve always wanted to do.
Exciting times lay ahead.
