I cannot go a full day without at least one coffee and I think I have a problem. Whether it's Dunkin', Starbucks, Saxbys, or a little cafe, I need my medium iced cafe mocha with skim milk. Here's what it's like to be a coffee addict.
1. It's expensive.
Coffee is not a $1.00 purchase, it is upwards of $4-$5. Affording it takes a lot of planning per month.
2. Basing your day off of when and where you can get coffee.
I factor in my coffee run to my daily schedule. Whether I have to wake up a few minutes earlier or take a detour before class or work, I will do it.
3. The headaches.
Some days you get your coffee too late and have to struggle through the caffeine headache. It's like a reminder that you need to fulfill part of your day.
4. Bad coffee = bad day.
Not everywhere you go will have amazing coffee, but a bad cup of coffee is better than no coffee at all. However, it may put you in a mood for the rest of the day, or until you get another cup.
5. Having allllll the apps.
I am a loyal customer to all my coffee shops, aka I have every single one of their apps so it's easier for me to order and pay. Also, I get free coffee out of it and who doesn't LOVE a free coffee?
6. Being a groggy monster.
The earlier I get my coffee, the better, because each second without it adds to my grogginess and a groggy Kate is not fun.
7. Coffee ice cubes.
Nothing is better than coffee ice cubes. Why? Because more coffee, duh.
8. Baristas know my name.
I actually don't know the last time I had to say my complete order because the workers see me so often that they already know what I want.
9. Hating winter.
I love my iced coffee and winter plus iced coffee do not mix. Also, when hot coffee gets cold, which is inevitable in the winter, it's disgusting.
I have been drinking coffee for so long that I don't even remember what it's like to not have at least a cup a day. I've tried to go 24 hours without a cup and it does not work out too well. Whoops.
