It's no doubt, I'm a social butterfly. I will talk to anyone about anything and shy is the last adjective anyone would use to describe me. Usually it's the shy people who refer to themselves as awkward, but for some of us, being outgoing comes with being full-blown awkward as well.
1. We have no filter.
As I find myself talking up a storm, I also find myself not filtering what comes out of my mouth. This leads to a perplexed or disturbed facial expression coming from the person that I am talking to. Pure shock is another expression that I am familiar with. But what can I say, I'm an open book; I say what's on my mind no matter how ridiculous it is.
2. We love people.
We are judge free people. We will talk to anyone regardless of if they want to talk to us or not. Conversing is just one of our favorite things to do. However, we then find ourselves making awkward comments or bad jokes and in the end everyone just laughs uncomfortably.
3. We talk too much.
People probably feel like they can never get away from us once we start talking. We just have so many important things to say and fun facts to share!
4. We laugh at our own jokes.
We make jokes that we think are absolutely hilarious. Usually the only reason the other person laughs is because of the way that we are reacting to our own comments.
5. We notice that half the time our friends aren't listening to what we're saying.
I think my family and my roommates have developed selective hearing when it comes to my voice. When I find myself going on rants, I realize that I'm basically just talking to myself, and I've gotten to the point in my life where I'm perfectly okay with that.
6. We love talking to other social people.
Nothing is better than meeting someone who loves to talk too! Conversations never get boring or meaningless because there is always something to talk about.
Being an outgoing person comes with it's ups and downs but overall, I think it's an advantage. Plus, some people thoroughly enjoy my awkward side, so I've learned to embrace it as well.
