Being an RA isn't an easy job. Between balancing academics, extra curricular activities, and RA responsibilities, it's not long before you find yourself in over your head. Here are just some of things you learn when you become an RA.

Your university does have its own quirks that you may not have noticed before.

You also learn that your ability to small talk for an extended period of time are better than you thought it was.

You actually have to address problems.

Nothing is worse than roommate conflicts

Putting off doing your bulletin boards and hallway decorations is never a good idea.

Whenever your friends go out, you're too busy getting caught up on schoolwork.

The six hour duty shift requires a lot of caffeine.

And so does the next morning.

But even that usually isn't enough to get you through your early morning class.

You spend a lot of Friday nights rejoicing that you aren't on duty. You celebrate by eating ice cream and going to bed before midnight.

Your friend who stays up until 3 a.m. with you is a Godsend.

Sometimes, you need the help of fellow RA's to work through problems with you.

And finally, you learn that you are capable of a lot more than you thought you were.
