On August 28, 2020 legendary actor, Chadwick Boseman, died after battling colon cancer for the last four years, he was only 43 years old.

Yet, Boseman did not let his diagnosis bring down his spirit and his love for acting. Since his cancer diagnosis in 2016 Boseman went on to star in 7 movies.

21 Bridges

He played the lead character of this 2019 action film while undergoing treatment. He plays an NYPD detective who uncovers a mass conspiracy after his officers were killed.

He played the role of Thurgood Marshall (pictured above), the court's first African-American justice. Boseman began filming this movie in 2016, the same year he was diagnosed.

Avengers: Infinity War & Avengers: Endgame

His role as Black Panther also starred in the famous Avengers series. His role as Wakanda's king took a lot of training and hardwork, which is amazing to think he trained so hard while battling cancer.

Ma Rainey's Black Bottom

Netflix announced that "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" is set to come out later this year. This is the last film to come out starring Boseman. He will play Levee, the trumpet player under singer, Ma Rainey's talent.


In 2016, Boseman was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer. He battled with this disease as it advanced to stage IV.

Chadwick Boseman was a real-life super hero for many. While secretly battling cancer, he visited St. Jude Children's Research hospital in 2018. He met many patients and brought them toys as well as joy and inspiration. He broke down in a Black Panther interview when talking about two terminally ill patients he had the pleasure of meeting.
