Did you buy a new laptop between the years of 2001 to 2011? Chances are, you probably have. Three companies: LG, Hitachi Maxell and NEC, are accused of price fixing the cost of lithium-ion batteries. The result? A higher cost for the consumer.
In March, the companies settled a class action lawsuit was able to settle for a little under $45 million, a small fraction compared to the estimated $967 million that the 11-year scheme had cost consumers.
If you purchased a laptop from one of these companies, or any Panasonic, Toshiba, Sanyo, and Samsung laptops, power tools, and camcorders which use these batteries, you can fill out this claim form to receive your cash back (probably enough to buy a small coffee).
Only U.S. residents are eligible, and you have until November 29 to fill out the form.
