The Levels Of Being A White Girl, Written By A White Girl

There are many levels of being a white girl.

You have all seen them: those girls with the Uggs, Starbucks and leggings. They're some of the most well know and mocked social groups of today's day and age. From social Starbucks drinker to full-fledged coffee addict, these girls are serious about their lifestyle. Despite this, they don't just appear overnight. They are created by a series of stages.

These girls start out by discovering Starbucks. This massive coffee chain is something most people have tried. White-girls-in-training get hooked. They first try it with their friends or family, and soon it spirals out of control. Usually for the first few months they will use all the extra cash in their wallets to buy a six dollar grande soy macchiato. Eventually, they get a little more savvy with their Starbucks. They will sign up for the app and ask for gift cards for any and every holiday. As a white girl myself, I acquired about $60 in Starbucks gift cards at Christmas alone.

The next level is usually the discovery of the messy bun. Now, these things really are life savers but can spiral into a form of addiction. Messy buns are perfect for when you are working out, going on "vacay" or lounging around, but white girls can take them too far. They wear them all the time. To hang out with friends, to job interviews, to the grocery store; a few girls even wore them to my senior prom. These girls have managed to blur the line between a convenient hair style and an elegant up-do.

The next level is leggings. Jeans? What are these contraptions called jeans? White girls wear leggings as pants for everything. They wear them with dresses, T-shirts, tank-tops, hoodies, etc. You name it, they wear it. Leggings are probably the most comfortable "pants" in existence. They are great for many things like working out, lounging, running to the store and traveling. White girls will wear these to anything. Leggings are not just a form of pants; they are a lifestyle.

The next level is shoes. White girls love shoes! Uggs, Chacos, Converse, and Sperrys. These shoes are owned by almost every white girl in existence. The iconic shoe that has become the punch line for countless "white girl jokes" would be Uggs. These girls will just slide their Uggs over their leggings and go! While these boots are actually perfect for the winter because they are usually fur lined, these white girls wear them all the time, as in the middle of summer. Like the other levels in this article, white girls take this trend way too far. They wear them with shorts, leggings, jeans and dresses. As you can probably tell, comfort is a huge deal among white girls. These boots scream comfortable, even though they may not be the cutest.

The final level, and the thing that will make you a total white girl, is the language. It only takes two words to set you apart as a white girl: "like" and "literally." Sentences like, "That was totally like the best thing ever," or "That was literally the best thing I have ever seen," are something that white girls use regularly. These two words appear everywhere, even though they may not make much sense. Most white girls use 'like" as a contraction. They put it everywhere. I personally use those two words in "like, literally most of my sentences."

These levels are what girls go through in order to become a true white girl. Being a white girl is not a bad thing, despite the jokes and teasing. If you like doing any of these things, then rock it, girl! As long as you are being true to yourself, are comfortable in your own skin, and are not compromising who you are as a person, then you are doing nothing wrong. It is what is on the inside that counts.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
