Why Letting Go Was So Hard

The hardest part about long distance relationships: leaving.

Letting go of you could've been one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. The time we spent together made me the happiest I've ever been. It was so hard to let you go because you're the one person who knows how to cheer me up when I'm down or calm me down by telling me to take deep breaths. You're truly my other half and I can never tell you how much I appreciate everything you do for me. You simply make me a better me and I just wanted to say thank you for that.

I never thought we'd shed tears 7 days before you left and each day after that just knowing that with each night we fell asleep together, we were going to be one night closer to the last day. People who've never been in long distance relationships probably don't know how hard it is to go without the physical part of their relationship, but when you are in one, you'll truly cherish each kiss and hug you share. You'll cherish the little things like laying in bed, watching TV together or being able to hold their hand when you're out in public together. The things that your average everyday couples take for granted become a big part of long distance relationships. It's so important not to take the small (or big, for that matter) things for granted.

When you think of long-distance relationships, you don't face the reality of that person eventually having to leave until the time comes. You get so caught up in having them there and being with them practically 24/7 that thinking about them leaving just becomes too hard to bear or even think about, so you avoid it at all costs. Then comes the day where you have no choice but to let go. You hug and kiss them for one last time and watch them walk away until the next time, whenever that would be.

If you're in a long-distance relationship, make sure you cherish every little second cause that time you spend together goes by quicker than you could imagine no matter how hard you pray for time to slow down.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
