There are people in your life whom you only cross paths with a few times, but it doesn't always form into anything major. However, sometimes there are those people who come into your life and you wonder how you ever survived without them. Throughout college, I have formed some of those amazing friendships and wanted to write my unexpected ones a little letter.
To my unexpected best friend,
First, thank you for being just as weird as I am and joining in on my random slap happy moments when we have studied for just a little too long or the random car rides ending with laughs and loud singing. I have come to realize that the relationships founded on honesty, laughs, and trust are the ones to get you through a road bump in the semester or strange moods that seep into your life for no reason and you go to the gym to work it off. The best things in life are the moments you don’t expect or go looking for. I wasn’t in search of you because I didn’t know what I was missing out on, but now that I have you in my life I hope you never leave cause you guys get me though everything. For reminding me that what I am freaking out about will pass, and justifying that getting that smoothie is indeed, a good idea.
Since we’ve met you have taught me how to stand up for myself, how to pick myself up when I’m down, you’ve been there when no one else was, and you can read me better than I can read myself. I’ll admit I’ve tried hiding stuff from you but within 10 minutes you know something is up, it’s almost like a magic trick and I have to admit, it is rather impressive. It’s funny to me to see where friendships come from but ours was so spontaneous and perfectly fitting that it’s one of my favorite stories because it just happened. Which I think is a good way to describe us, we just kind of… happen. And it’s great!!
I hope everyone finds an unexpected best friend like we did because our friendship has been the reason for some of my favorite memories. Thank you for being such a major part of my life.
I love you and I appreciate you.
