An Open Letter To My Two Best Friends

Some people are blessed to find one best friend, I'm lucky enough to have two.

An Open Letter To My Two Best Friends
Taylor Plourde

To my Two best friends,

Thank you so much for sticking by my side all the way up through grade school, to middle school, to high school, and now college. You both have been such amazing blessings in my life.

Whenever I was having a bad day you guys always knew how to cheer me up. (You both still make my day with your spontaneous Snapchats!) Whenever I just needed to rant, you would listen. Whenever I wanted to take a spontaneous trip you were more than willing. It may seem cliche, but over the course of, what, more than ten years now, you both have become more than just my friends- you're my sisters.

It's hard right now because we're all going to school in different states, but when we come home for breaks I know nothing will have changed between us. And as they say (whoever "they" are) the best friendships are the ones that you spend time apart but when you come back together nothing has changed.

I don't know if I told you guys, but over the summer I had the chance to spend some time with my mom and one of her childhood friends, and when they got together it was like they had never been apart. They laughed about old and new stories, they talked about how their lives have changed, and they reminisced. I want that with you guys. Years from now after we've finished school and move off to new exciting places I know that we will be like that.

"They" also say that the friends you make in college are for life, and I hope that's true for you both too. (I'm willing to share you guys because you're too awesome to keep for myself.) So just know while you're out there experiencing the world, that you'll always be my best friends, no matter the distance between us.

Love you gurls!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
