To whoever created "Frat Beach,"
If you're a UGA student, you're probably aware that "Frat Beach" just occurred.
Fondly referred to as the greatest day of the year, I think we all had *way* too much fun. After reflecting on an incredible GA/FL weekend, my friends and I posed a question.... Who on earth came up with Frat beach? So, to whoever did, this one's for you.
If you're unfamiliar, Frat Beach is the annual gathering of UGA students on Saint Simons Island, Georgia on our annual "Fall Break" aka FL/GA game. As we have Friday off of school, naturally, we all head down on Thursday. On Friday, we all head to the beach dressed in ridiculous costumes and hang out with our fellow UGA students while running around the beach. It's truly a time to be alive and a tradition that us UGA students will always cherish.
But... seriously? Who came up with this?
Who decided that we would all drive 6 hours to hang out with each other in ridiculous costumes on a beach? How long has this been going on? Was the first frat beach as lit as they are now? Probably not, but what was it like?
All in all, no matter how it happened, Frat Beach truly is the best weekend. This is one of those things that is "always acceptable in college but absolutely no time else" AKA we live it up while we can. I truly count my blessings to go to a school where this is an annual event, and will miss these days post-grad.
To whoever came up with Frat Beach, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much.
Love,
Current UGA Students
